Sitka Police Department received the following calls as of 8 a.m. today
May 7
A caller reported a camera had shown a bear enter the property in the 1600 block of Edgecumbe Drive but didn't show it leaving. Officers saw no bears in the area.
A caller said while she was at her mother's house on Edgecumbe Drive a man had arrived saying he was supposed to check the dryer, but when her mother came home she said no one was asked to check the dryer. Nothing was found missing or disturbed, the caller said.
At 5:53 p.m. a backpack was reported missing from the Skate Park.
At 8:36 p.m. an erratic driver was reported on SMC. He was cited for driving without a license.
At 8:56 p.m. a driver parked at Market Center got a leg cramp as he prepared to leave and instead went forward, hitting a soda vending machine in front of the building. The vending machine was totaled and the passenger side of the Ford SUV received minimum damage. The driver was checked by EMS but declined to go to the hospital.
May 8
At 1:06 a.m. an intoxicated man was reported refusing to leave the Franklin Building. He left while police were being called.
