Police Chiefs

Dear Editor: As a 55-year-resident of Sitka I have seen many police chiefs come and go. I want to thank the recent interim chief and the new chief for their views on community policing.

It makes a difference to the public when the police view themselves as part of, rather than apart from, the community.

Sharing information and transparency, not just through the Sentinel’s Police Blotter but with actual news releases, give the public more confidence in the department. Thank you.
