Robert Edward Geiger Jr., a longtime Sitkan, passed away peacefully in Anchorage on Dec. 22, 2025, and went home to our Lord. He was age 70.
Robert was born on Sept. 20, 1955, and lived a life rooted in faith, family, and a deep love of the outdoors. He grew up in Feeding Hills, Massachusetts, where he was active in the Boy Scouts of America and obtained Eagle Scout Status. He continued scouting when he came to Sitka to attend Sheldon Jackson College. He, graduated in 1982 with an associates degree in forestry.
Sitka perfectly reflected his adventurous spirit. He embraced the rugged beauty of Alaska, and found peace in its wilderness while serving as a park ranger at Sitka National Historical Park.
Robert was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Crystal Geiger, and his parents, Robert and Joyce Geiger. He is survived by his son, Adam Geiger, and his granddaughter, Anita Geiger, both of Sitka; his siblings Cindy (Todd) Carver, Gary (Mary) Geiger and Steve (Pam) Geiger; several nieces and nephews, and many friends.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Robert's life is planned for this coming spring, in Sitka.
