Dear Editor: Thank you all for joining us at our recent Salmon Release Party – we truly felt the tremendous community support.
Together, we helped release over 800 young pink and coho salmon into the ocean and fed more than 350 children and adults who joined us. We were surrounded by laughter, connection, and the scent of barbecued burgers and hot dogs. More than just a celebration of spring, this event was a celebration of Sitka, a strong, caring community that comes together to support one another.
This event would not have been possible without the incredible support from our community, who donated food and supplies. Thank you so much to: Shaleena Bott, U.S. Foods, Northern Sales, Birch Equipment, Harbor Mountain Brewery, and Edith Johnson with Our Town Catering. Your amazing generosity made this event a resounding success.
Whether you helped carry salmon babies to the shore, enjoyed our barbecue, shared a story, or simply showed up with a smile, you were part of something meaningful. Events like this remind us how powerful our community can be when we gather with a shared purpose.
As those tiny salmon swim off into the vast ocean, they carry with them the spirit of a community rooted in hope, action, and connection. We’re proud of what we created together and excited for what lies ahead.
Let’s keep showing up for each other and celebrate what makes life beautiful together. Here’s to many more moments of joy, learning, and togetherness.
With heartfelt thanks,
