Sitka Police Department received the following calls as of 8 a.m. today.
August 31
At 2:07 a.m. an incident of drunkenness was reported at a downtown bar.
At 4:59 a.m. a bear was reported in the 400 block of Lake Street.
At 7:26 a.m. a dog was reported running at large at totem park, harassing other dogs. An officer checked the dog’s tags and returned it to its owner.
Loose garbage was reported on Lance Drive. Officers saw none.
At 10:52 a.m. a dog was reported running in and out of traffic on SMC and Smith Street. The animal control officer was called, and the dog’s owner picked it up.
A caller reported a problem with an intoxicated family member. Officers were unable to locate the man.
At 1 p.m. a caller reported a man on a bike had verbally harassed him at Centennial Hall, and was drinking shots from a backpack. The man was gone when officers arrived.
Officers picked up case numbers in drug violation investigations.
At 4:48 p.m. neighbors were reported having a dispute over a vehicle, on SMC. One person was trespassed from a residence.
At 6:41 p.m. a caller said a flag on Castle Hill was flying upside down and at half-staff. An officer responded.
At 6:51 p.m. a caller on Maksoutoff Street said a man had stopped by and was trying to sell a bike.
At 6:47 p.m. a caller reported hearing a man and a man yelling on Molly Lane. Officers found the two had been trying to break up a dog fight.
At 8:24 p.m. a caller asked police to check on her husband, who hadn’t yet returned from a fishing trip. A half hour later, he was at the dock.
At 9:27 p.m. kids were reported riding dirt bikes at Starrigavan boat launch. They were gone when officers arrived.
At 9:34 p.m. a hotel reported a non-guest was refusing to leave the lobby. He’d left by the time officers arrived.
At 10:28 p.m. a man in the 200 block of Katlian was given a verbal warning for having an open container.
At 11:45 p.m. a bear call came in from Biorka and Park streets.
September 1
Verbal warnings for having bear attractants were issued to residents on Jeff Davis Street, Etolin Street, Baranof Street, and the 600 and 700 blocks of Lake Street.
Sitka Police
Jheryn Lewis, 21, was charged Tuesday with driving under the influence.
Nathaniel Hunter Skeek, 23, was charged Tuesday with violating conditions of release.
Emergency Calls
Sitka Fire Department received four ambulance calls Tuesday.
