Syria
Dear Editor: It took Russia to propose a suitable solution to Syrian crisis after John Kerry only joked about it.  Oh, he joked about it alright. Obviously, (A word he will regret forever.)
Remember: There were 1,000 U.N. weapon inspectors in Iraq looking for
WMD before W pulled them out and introduced “shock and awe.”
So yes, send a U.N. team into Syria and “neutralize” these WMD. Russia says yes, Syria says yes.  The US says maybe.
     Maybe?
We should jump on this solution as quickly as the Kremlin jumped on Kerry’s joke. (It took them three hours.) But the talking heads and the politicians and the ‘expert advisors’ on all the TV networks are coming up with silly reasons why this won’t work.
One of the reasons being that the weapons inspectors cannot do their work in the middle of a civil war.
There’s a simple solution to this!
Is it too simple to work?
Will people find fault with this?
Call a  ***** CEASEFIRE.
      You idiots!

HPR Road Work
Dear Editor: I would like to thank you for your patience and understanding while we are working on Halibut Point Road. To date we are ahead of schedule and hope to continue this trend.
I know with all of the construction going on in Sitka this summer, this has been challenging at times. I can say without any reservations that in the last seven years of running jobs for McGraw Custom Construction and now ASRE McGraw Constructors the response from the public has been friendlier and more courteous than in any town I have ever worked.
Thank you very much. We will continue to try and keep the waiting times down to a bare minimum while we complete our work. Your positive comments are appreciated by the entire work force and especially my flaggers.
Michael Ashton,
Project Superintendent,
Halibut Point Road
