Sitka Police Department received the following calls as of 8 a.m. today.

September 15

A traffic offense was logged at 8:28 a.m. in the 400 block of Katlian.

At 9:33 a.m. parking enforcement was logged in the 200 block of Lincoln Street.

At 10:53 a.m. contact was made with a citizen in the 5400 block of HPR.

At 11:36 a.m. contact was made with a citizen in the 3500 block of HPR.

At 1:16 p.m. a citizen was assisted at Starrigavan campground.

At 2 p.m. an animal call came in from the 2300 block of HPR.

At 5:55 p.m. a welfare check was requested on Jamestown Drive.

At 6:35 p.m. a found property call came in from the 200 block of Harbor Drive.

A wallet was reported stolen in the 4400 block of SMC.

At 7:30 p.m. an animal call came in from Harbor Mountain Road.

A suspicious person was reported at 9:58 p.m. in the area of the O’Connell Bridge.

 

Emergency Calls

Sitka Fire Department received nine ambulance calls Thursday.

 

Sitka Police

Misty Farrell, 36, was charged Thursday with assault in the second degree.

Carl Gorsegner, 54, was charged Thursday with theft and resisting arrest.

 

Coast Guard

A Coast Guard Air Station Sitka helicopter crew helped in the successful search for a 25-year-old hiker who was reported missing 5:30 p.m. Thursday out of Hoonah.

The hiker was last spotted leaving town at noon on foot with fishing poles, and had been expected home that evening, the Coast Guard said. The helicopter received the call at 4:40 a.m. today, launched at 5:50 a.m. and started searching at 6:20 a.m., accompanied by a local guide.

The missing person was found at 9:09 a.m. in good condition, and the helicopter returned to Sitka at 9:32 a.m., the Coast Guard said.
