Sitka Police Department logged the following calls as of 8 a.m. today.

September 16

At 6:47 a.m. a bear call came in from 1900 SMC.

At 7:42 a.m. a caller said two men were playing loud music and taking up a public bathroom with their belongings in the 200 block of Katlian. They were able to care for themselves, and officers told them to leave.

At 8 a.m. an incident of drunkenness was reported at Eliason Harbor.

At 8:55 a.m. Alaska Airlines reported a man was in the parking lot asking  people for money. He left in a car before officers arrived.

At 11 a.m. two men were reported causing a problem at the Crescent Harbor shelter. One was trespassed from the shelter for one year and the other was given a warning for having an open container.

At 1:26 p.m. a woman said her vehicle was damaged in a hit and run in a parking area in the 1300 block of HPR.

At 2:59 p.m. a U.S. Park Service ranger made contact with people  who had alcohol and marijuana at totem park.

At 3:19 p.m. a woman said another dog had attacked her dog at the Kimsham ball field. The owner of the accused dog left before officers arrived.

At 3:39 p.m. a man turned in a purse found in front of a bar on Lincoln Street. Officers are attempting to contact the owner of the purse.

At 5:36 p.m. two men were reported drinking near Centennial Hall. They were warned about having open containers.

At 8:09 p.m. a possibly intoxicated man was reported yelling and asking people for money at a store in the 1200 block of SMC. Officers gave him a warning for disorderly conduct.

At 9:26 p.m. an incident of drunkenness was reported at SMC and Lake Street.

At 9:29 p.m. a man was reported yelling and making a scene at DeGroff and SMC.

At 9:57 p.m. a person with an unsafe car at Baranof and Biorka streets was told to fix it or it would be impounded.

At 11 p.m. an incident of drunkenness was reported in the 200 block of Lincoln Street.

September 17

At 5:05 a.m. a man was reported yelling and screaming and being erratic at Alaska Airlines. After police arrived he voluntarily agreed to go to a medical facility.

 

At 5:51 a.m. a caller at Naomi Kanosh Lane and Indian River Road reported hearing gunshots. Officers searched the area but found no source for the gunshots.

Emergency Calls

Sitka Fire Department received an ambulance call at 9:08 a.m. Two fire calls came in but both were false alarms.
