Crystal for Assembly

Dear Editor: Our city is facing one of the most challenging times in its history with the confluence of a global health pandemic, an economic recession, and our reckoning with racial injustice.

The current state of public discourse is divided and angry. We need Assembly members who are smart, hardworking, and able to move good ideas forward. We need Assembly members who believe in civil discourse. Moving good ideas forward requires listening to the public, your fellow Assembly members and municipal staff. It requires building relationships and consensus to create and implement plans that are best for Sitka.

Crystal Duncan has demonstrated these beliefs and skills. She has a vision for a healthy community, an accessible economy, and a collaborative government for a thriving Sitka — and all of these goals are founded on a practice of listening to others and bringing people together. As you decide your vote, please think about which Assembly candidates will actually be able to constructively and civilly move forward an agenda that will heal and advance Sitka’s interests.

Protests

Dear Editor: Well, two more cops shot last night in a “peaceful protest”. There literally has been thousands of cops injured in all these “peaceful protests”. Many of them have been killed during these “peaceful protests”. When is enough gonna be enough?? When is Black Lives Matter going to actually do something (anything) for the black community?? In the last 7 years, since Black Lives Matters founding, the Marxist organization has raised over a billion dollars and I CHALLENGE anybody to name a park that has been built in a black community or a black persons mortgage that has been paid by BLM, OR How many scholarships have been paid for by BLM. I have checked and did my research and the only thing I can find is, where the BLM group gives its money back to the DNC, to try and elect Marxist politicians.

You know, the Democratic Party has used the black community for their personal gain, pretty much, from the founding of our country. They have promised blacks the world right before EVERY election. Then, as soon as the election is over, you don’t hear nothing about it till the next election. From being in Sitka for the last 20 plus years, I have seen the democratic party treat the native community the exact same way. They promise everything in the world and say how much the love the native community, which has been run by the democrats as long as I can remember. But, just like now, they feel they can take the native community for granted and that they will ‘‘fall in line” and vote the way they want them to vote. Let me tell ya something folks. I have gone down back street knocking on doors and all through this community and I have found that about 3 quarters of the natives that I have spoken to are now Trump supporters. Which really surprised me about how much quicker the native community has opened their eyes and realized they have been taken for granted by the Democratic party.

And, not for nothing, but how many of you knew that, per capita, the native Americans have served in the United States Military 5 times MORE than any other group of people in America. And for that, my family and all other American families would like to say Thank You for your service, and we all owe our veterans a debt of gratitude that we will never be able to repay. There is no way you can tell me that these great Americans fought and died and where wounded just to see their country being burnt down by a bunch of little Marxists like ANTIFA and BLM. This is what they fought against, to keep fascism and communism off our shores.

In closing, I would just like to say: Although I recognize these things are not happening in Sitka “yet”. But as we have seen with the statues, eventually, everything that happens down south trickles up here. And if you want a fighter who won’t allow that to happen, I’m your man. God Bless America, God Bless our President of the United States and may God Bless you and your family. Thank you.
