Support Potrzuski

Dear Editor: We have had the privilege of knowing Assembly candidate Bob Potrzuski for more than three decades. He is a longtime Sitkans who is compassionate, knowledgeable and committed. Bob is a good listener, open to suggestions, and is good at looking at situations from all angles.

He has lived his life in a prudent financial manner, which, in the current economic climate will serve us all well. We can count on Bob to thoroughly investigate issues that come before the Assembly. We encourage you to vote for Bob Potrzuski for Assembly.

Fish to Schools

Dear Editor: The Sitka Conservation Society would like to thank the generous commercial fishermen who participated in the 2015 Fish to Schools donation drive. Thank you F/V Samantha Dawn, F/V I Gotta, F/V Juanderer, F/V Merlin, F/V Rip Curl, F/V Alexa K, F/V Ulla, F/V Lucky Strike, F/V Minke, F/V Pacific Bounty, F/V Woodstock, F/V Duna, F/V Sugar, and anyone else we may have missed. Thank you to both the Seafood Producers Cooperative and Sitka Sound Seafoods for hosting the drive.

Locally-caught fish will be on the lunch menu at Baranof Elementary, Keet Gooshi Heen, Blatchley Middle School, Sitka High School, Pacific High School, Mt, Edgecumbe High School, SEER School, and Head Start once a week during the 2015-2016 school year. This community partnership between fishermen, seafood processors, the school district, and food service contractors has created access to local fish for all school children in Sitka. Together, we are reshaping our local food system and cultivating the next generation of fishermen and fish-lovers. With gratitude,

Sophie Nethercut,
