Visitor Season
Dear Editor: The busy visitor season is over and I would like to commend two local businesses involved with the visitor industry – Allen Marine with their amazing Alaska Dream Cruises and McGraw with their beautiful new dock facility and the marketing they did to encourage ships to come here.
These two companies took the risk to invest in Sitka and we are more prosperous because of them. Thank you.

Favorite Place
Dear Editor: We visited Sitka the third week of August 2014. Without qualification, Sitka is our favorite place in Alaska. Why? The kind, generous, and open people we met who made us feel so welcome.
One lovely lady even gave us a ride to the Raptor Center – only because we walked by and she asked if we needed help. We so enjoyed the ladies in the Artists Co-op and their art. The natural surroundings are stunning. The cultural learning opportunities at the Totem Park and Bishop’s House outstanding.
Everyone we encountered was so pleasant. Sitka has a great sense of community in the best possible sense.
Thanks to all – we do feel like we ‘‘have a friend in Sitka.’’ Best regards.
