Police Blotter
    Police received the following calls by 8 a.m. today:
August 30
    A caller turned in a lantern with a suicidal message written on it. An officer spoke with the writer, who said it was a tribute to family members and she wasn’t suicidal.
    At 10:36 a.m. a man was reported passed out in a bathroom stall at ANB Harbor. An officer reminded him he’d been trespassed from the location.
    Officers warned people drinking at the skate park about open containers.
    Police checked a bag found behind Sitka High and disposed of it.
    A caller said a couple of kids threw apples at a window at 801 HPR and broke it. Police will talk to the parents.
    At 6:39 p.m. a caller at John Brown Beach said a bear with a cub had growled at her and her children. A USCG officer was advised.
    A heavily intoxicated man in need of medical attention at 706 HPR was taken to the hospital.
    At 8:42 p.m. an intoxicated man outside a store at 705 HPR was  reported drinking alcohol in public.
    At 10 p.m. a caller reported a couple loudly arguing on Granite Creek Road. Officers found it was verbal and asked the two to separate for the night.
    At 11:51 p.m. a caller on Kirkman Way complained of a loud party. It ended when an officer arrived.
    August 31
    At 2:45 p.m. a caller said a highly intoxicated man at 212 Katlian    had fallen and wasn’t walking well. An officer found the man was fine and watching the birds, and seemed able  to care for himself.
    At 4:33 p.m. an intoxicated man was reported sleeping in front of a restaurant at 210 Katlian. An officer took the man to his home.
    A caller reported losing a black gun bag with ammunition and gun clips.
    At 8:32 p.m. a caller said a man who appeared to be loitering in a store at 705 HPR and not shopping was rude to employees when they asked him to leave. Officers directed the man to leave and not return for the night.
    At 11 p.m. a caller said she’d received multiple complaints from bar patrons about a man sleeping on the sidewalk next door. Officers determined he needed EMS due to his level of intoxication.
September 1
    At 1:42 a.m. a woman in the 2300 block of HPR said she often hears footsteps in the yard and thinks someone might be coming onto her property late at night.
    A caller said his dog has been missing several days and thinks neighbors may have taken it. He was told no reports of dogs had been turned in.
    A caller said a car had been parked at the Verstovia trailhead for about a week and he was concerned a hiker might not have come back. The car owner said he’d sold the vehicle.
    At 4 p.m. a 911 caller reported an assault done by a coworker at 4644 SMC. No charges were forwarded. The suspect was removed from employment.
    At 5:41 p.m. a caller said a woman walking in the 700 block of HPR seemed to be under the influence. An officer contacted her and after she provided a PBT of .261 she was taken to the place where she was staying.
    A caller said a co-worker she’d previously had a relationship with was trying to contact her and she was afraid he might come to her house. She was advised of her options to speak with the courts and inquire about a stalking/protective order.
    At 9:46 p.m. a caller said a very large man was yelling in the middle of the road in the 1600 block of SMC and acting aggressively toward citizens asking him to move. The man left while the caller was on the phone.
    At 10:48 p.m. a caller reported hearing dog cries from inside backpacks two females were wearing at Moller field. Officers found three small dogs were in the backpacks and made contact with the dogs’ owner, who found they were unharmed.
September 2
    At 1:55 a.m. a caller said she’d been awakened by a gathering at a house near hers, and when she asked them politely to quiet down since it was late at night and she was trying to sleep they did not oblige. She said they were intoxicated and walking around with open containers. Officers found they had gone back inside their homes.
    At 2 a.m. a hotel said intoxicated individuals outside the hotel were being loud, and guests were complaining. Police asked the group to leave.
    At 7:13 a.m. the harbor department asked for help asking intoxicated people to leave the net shed at Crescent Harbor. One refused to leave and was told he could be trespassed.
    A woman who was upset after an encounter with her estranged husband agreed to go to the hospital.
    Police picked up ammo TSA found on a passenger at the airport.
     A man passed out in the Centennial Hall restroom was taken to the hospital.
    At 2:24 p.m. an alarm went  off in a Harvest Way condo. The mother of the owner said she would check on the problem.
    A round, brilliant-cut diamond fell out of a woman’s ring. The woman said she had notified jewelry stores in case it was turned in.
    At 3:30 p.m. adults were reported “messing with spawning fish” in Indian River.
    A report of drug abuse is being investigation.
    At 5:40 p.m. a caller said a man riding in a grocery cart ran into a food cart at a grocery store, causing minor damage. The food cart owners are to give an estimate of damage to police,
who will forward it to the man.
     A woman told an officer a man was harassing her.
    A man was arrested for causing damage to a home.
    Krys with an orange tag were found on Lance and Vitskari streets.
    At 9:44 p.m. a 911 caller said  several boats were tied to one boat and starting to drag it down in Eliason Harbor. The harbor department was advised.
    At 11:20 p.m. a 911 caller said  another man had been assaulted. Medical help was refused, and police investigated the incident.
    At 11:35 p.m. a fight was reported outside a bar. Both conbatants told police they were the aggressor and didn’t want to press charges.
September 3
    At 2:45 a.m. a man was heard yelling at the skate park. He told police he was yelling at his crew members who were moored in the channel and refusing to come get him. He agreed to quiet down.

Sitka Police
     Lionel Carroll, 60, was cited Friday for having an open container.
    Francisco De La Torre Herrera, 68, was cited Friday for failure to yield to a school bus displaying red lights.
    Brian Benton, 38, was arrested Monday on a charge of criminal mischief in the fifth degree, domestic violence.

Emergency Calls
    Sitka Fire Department received four requests for ambulances Friday, two on Saturday, four on Sunday and two Monday.
    At 5:36 p.m. Saturday a fire truck was sent to 407 Lincoln Street on a false alarm, and again at 8:12 a.m. Monday to 877 SMC on a false alarm.
