Sitka Police Department received the following calls as of 8 a.m. today.

September 3

At 12:25 a.m. a bear call came in from Marine and Erler streets.

A report of drunkenness in the 400 block of Katlian was logged at 1 a.m. 

At 10:27 a.m. an intoxicated man was reported on the lightering dock under the O’Connell Bridge. Officers escorted him off the property.

At 7:47 p.m. a woman said when she walks her dog at Crescent Harbor a pitbull that’s not on a leash comes after them. The ACO was informed.

At 9:45 p.m. a noise complaint came in from Spruce Street.

At 10:25 p.m. a bear call came in from Barlow and Lincoln streets.

Citations for having bear attractants were issued on Barlow and Etolin.

September 4

At 12:25 a.m. a bear nuisance citation was issued on Biorka Street.

At 3:21 a.m. a 19-year-old was cited for minor consuming on Katlian.

At 11 a.m. new graffiti was reported at the skate park.

A confused elderly man found downtown was escorted home.

A caller reported an inappropriate association between a teen and a 21-year-old.

At 5:22 p.m. a 12-foot skiff was reported missing from Back Beach.

At 6:34 p.m. a caller said a man appeared to be breaking in at a building on Alice Loop Road. Police found he had permission to be there.

At 7:27 p.m. a highly intoxicated man was reported walking near Magic Island. Officers couldn’t find him.

At 7:51 p.m. a caller reported people not wearing masks at Baranof and Biorka streets. An officer was advised.

At 10:31 a caller said a young girl was left home at 8:15 p.m. and wasn’t home. She was found at a friend’s.

September 5

At 12:10 a.m. a man who had been trespassed at a bar was reported to have returned. He left before police arrived.

At 12:39 a.m. fireworks were reported heard on Flume Circle.

At 1:32 a.m. an intoxicated man was reported falling down on Burkhart Street. An officer responded.

At 4 a.m. a hit and run was reported on Peterson Street.

At 9:17 a.m. an assault was reported at Thomsen Harbor. Charges are to be forwarded.

At 2:39 p.m. a man was reported yelling and throwing items in the airport lobby. He was taken to a facility, and Alaska Airlines said it would rebook him after he was in better shape.

At 10:50 p.m. about six gunshots were reported but residents told officers the noise likely was from fireworks being set off to scare bears away from Andrew P. Hope Street.

At 10:53 p.m. a noise complaint was logged on Cedar Beach Road.

At 10:55 p.m. a bear attractant citation was issued for a second offense on Rudolph Walton Circle.

September 6

At 12:01 a.m. a caller on Toivo Circle complained about constantly barking dogs. The ACO is to be notified.

A bear nuisance citation was issued at 2:31 a.m. on Andrew P. Hope Street.

A man was reported abusing his dog in the 3200 block of HPR. The ACO is to investigate.

An Alaska Airlines passenger reported needing to document that luggage was lost between Tucson and Sitka on Aug. 29.

Noise complaints came in at 1:11 a.m. on Flume Circle and at 1:19 a.m. on Indian River.

At 1:30 p.m. a very intoxicated woman was reported walking across the bridge. She was taken to a facility.

At 5:18 p.m. two teens were reported aiming guns at traffic across from Sawmill Creek Plaza. Officers confiscated what turned out to be airsoft guns and talked to the boys’ parents.

A family dispute over a vehicle was investigated.

At 7:50 p.m. fireworks were reported in the 4000 block of HPR.

At 8:16 p.m. a bear nuisance citation was issued on Cedar Beach Road.

September 7

An incident of drunkenness was reported on Katlian at 3:09 a.m.

 

Sitka Police

Aurora Del Schein, 26, was charged  Saturday with driving under the influence.

Richard Matthew Davis, 21, was charged with burglary in the second degree, three counts of assault in the fourth degree and criminal mischief in the fifth degree.

Melissa Hammock, 31, was charged Sunday with disorderly conduct.

Matthew Heckman, 34, was charged Sunday with driving with a revoked license.

 

Emergency Calls

Sitka Fire Department received nine ambulance calls Friday, four on Saturday, two on Sunday and eight on Monday.

 

In Court

Ty Walker Davis, 25, on an April 4, 2019, charge of criminal trespass in the second degree, a class B misdemeanor, was sentenced Thursday to 10 days, suspended, and placed on probation for a year.

On a June 22, 2020, class C felony charge of theft in the second degree he was sentenced to two years with one year suspended, and placed on probation for three years, with conditions, including that he not return to Q3 LLC, Sitka Lutheran Church, Highliner Cafe, Radio Shack, Aspen Hotel, Sea Mart, Sportsman’s Warehouse, The Cellar, Market Center, Harry Race Pharmacy, AC Lakeside, Kohl’s and Coastal Prop Shop.

On six Jan. 14, 2019, class C felony charges of forgery in the second degree – legal documents he was sentenced to three years with one year suspended, and placed on probation for three years, under conditions including not returning to the places listed in the June 2020 case. Charges of theft in the second degree and fraud were dismissed.

On a Jan. 25, 2019, class C felony charge of burglary in the second degree he was sentenced to two years with one year suspended and placed on probation for three years under conditions, including that he not return to the places listed in the June 2020 case. Charges of theft in the second degree and forgery in the second degree were dismissed.

On an April 4, 2019, charge of burglary in the second degree, a class C felony, he was sentenced to two years with a year suspended, and placed on probation for three years on conditions that include not returning to the places listed in the June 2020 case. Charges of criminal mischief  in the fifth degree and theft in the third degree were dismissed.

On the four felony charges he is to be given credit for time served. The active jail times imposed are concurrent and the suspended times are consecutive, for a composite sentence of six years and 10 days with four years and 10 days suspended.
