Sitka Police Department received the following calls as of 8 a.m. today.

September 6

At 12:35 a.m. a dog was reported running at large in the 1800 block of HPR. It was gone when police arrived.

At 7:32 a.m. a man was reported sleeping  at the skate park. Officers advised him of the park’s hours.

At 11:07 a.m. one car ran onto the top of another in the 200 block of Harbor Drive. A driver said she was wearing new shoes and her foot slipped off the brake onto the accelerator, sending the car  onto a  parking sign and up on the other car, police said. No one was injured and the cars were towed, police said.

An out-of-town caller asked for a welfare check on a relative. Local family members responded and the situation was resolved.

A backpack was found on Marine Street. The owner was contacted.

A cruise line reported an incident on board. Police checked it out.

A barricade blew over at Lincoln and American streets. The Chamber of Commerce was notified.

A caller reported a very, very smelly trash can was on Jarvis Street. Officers found it contained foods and meats, and it was placed behind a fence so bears couldn’t get into it.

Petersburg Police Department asked for a subpoena to be served.

At 8:29 p.m. a Wolff Drive resident said an older Lab had walked out of the house without a collar on,  and asked to be called if the Lab was found.

At 8:51 p.m. a man who had gone to Anchorage for treatment was reported to have left without notice. Police found he had returned to Sitka.

 

Emergency Calls

Sitka Fire Department received two ambulance calls and one false alarm fire call Tuesday.

At 11:07 a.m. a fire truck and ambulance were sent to the 200 block of Harbor Drive where a traffic accident had occurred. No transport was needed.
