BHV Praise
Dear Editor: Brave Heart Volunteers would not exist without our caring and steadfast volunteers. We appreciate all the time and love they devote to Sitkans experiencing loneliness, grief and end of life. At the heart of our organization are two compassionately committed staff members who make it all happen!
Angie DelMoral is our executive director. Her excellent writing skills, care and precision help to keep track of the finances and bring in the essential funds needed to keep our doors open.
Both staff members bring on new volunteers and organize and run the necessary volunteer trainings and educational events.
Kathryn Winslow is our program manager. We refer to her as our “Matchmaker!” Pairing a volunteer with a care receiver takes patience and finesse, and Kathryn has the skills to find just the right volunteer for each care receiver. Referrals come to her from family members, the Pioneers Home, local medical professionals and individuals in need of non-medical assistance and companionship.
We offer a huge thank you to Angie and Kathryn for their hard work and dedication. They are a wonderful asset to this community, and the heart of BHV! Sept. 16 is the next training for new visiting volunteers. If you have ever considered volunteering for BHV, have questions about our services, or if you know of someone in need, we encourage you to give Kathryn a call at 747-4600.
Signed by all Brave Heart Volunteers Board Members:
Ellie Jansen, Michele Friedman, Gloria Pies, Tonya Venneberg,

Thank You
Dear Editor: The Mt. Edgecumbe boys basketball team would like to extend a huge thank you to the community of Sitka for their support of our recent fundraiser at AC Lakeside. Whether you purchased food, made a donation, or honked at the boys in support, we are extremely grateful.
The support of the staff was only second to the support and work of AC Lakeside and the Burnt Ends Crew! Vince, Troy and Vinnie were incredible. Athena’s energy was awesome too. If I forgot anyone, I sincerely apologize but we are grateful for your support of our community. Thank you.
