Service for Janice Limbaugh Scheduled Sunday, May 18

Posted

A celebration of the life of Janice Marie (Williams) Limbaugh will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, May 18, at the ANB Founders Hall. It will be potluck-style.

Janice died Oct. 13, 2024, in Spokane, Washington. A former Sitkan, she had been a resident of Moses Lake, Washington, since 2012.

A wife, mother and sister, Janice was a Native artist and was proud to follow in her mom's footsteps. She was loved and is missed every day.

Janice was born July 31, 1962, at Mt. Edgecumbe Hospital, the daughter of Alice (Williams) and Matthew Williams Sr. She graduated from Sitka High in 1980. She met Michael Limbaugh and they were married in the Russian Orthodox Church on Sept. 19, 1997 – one of the happiest days of her life, besides the ones when her babies arrived.

She worked at SEARHC in Sitka and then in Juneau, from 2000 until 2012 when she moved to Moses Lake.

Janice loved beading, watching Native dancing, taking long car rides, playing bingo, and shopping with her family. She and Michael would take her mom traveling with them – a special time, Janice said, when they could be together.

She was one of the original Gajaa Heen Dancers. She decided to become a foster parent because she wanted to help the Native children. She met Janelle, fell in love with her and adopted her.

She also had a love for animals and adopted all kinds. At the time of her death she had her beloved dog Juneau, who misses her every day, too.

And Janice always loved to come home to Sitka to visit.

Janice was preceded in death by her father, Matthew Williams Sr., and her mother, Alice Williams; her sister Cynthia Kaze-Williams; and her brother-in-law Calvin Carlson Sr.

She is survived by her husband, Michael Limbaugh Sr. of Moses Lake; daughters Janelle, 30, and Kaycie, 22, and sons Michael Limbaugh Jr., 28, and Jared, 26, all of Moses Lake; and sister Margaret Carlson and nieces Kayla and Chelsea Peterson, all of Sitka.

She also is survived by aunties Adeline Burton of Sitka and June Kinney of Anchorage; uncle John Williams, of Anchorage; "Sissy" Lillian Young of Sitka and other siblings Richard, Matthew and Ethel Williams.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Margaret Carlson, 332 Kaagwaantaan Street, Sitka, AK 99835.
