Brenda Ann Bean

Services for Brenda Ann Bean will be held Thursday, Jan. 4, at St. Gregory’s Catholic Church.
A viewing will be held at 11 a.m. and Mass at noon, followed by a potluck dinner downstairs at the church.
Brenda, who was a nurse manager for many years at SEARHC, died Dec. 25, at the age of 85.
She was born June 16, 1938, in Jersey City, New Jersey, the daughter of Henry Ryan and Marian Frances Sheridan. She and her siblings, Henry Ryan and Florance Dolan, were raised in Woodland, Bronx. She graduated from St. Baranabas High School and then Jersey City Medical Center School of Nursing. In 1972 she came to Sitka, where she married Patrick Bean on Oct. 7, 1972.
Brenda was a beloved mother and grandmother. Her family will remember and cherish the many years of game nights, going to church with her on Sundays – something she loved very much – and all of her “Nurse Nan” advice. Prayer, and helping others any way she could, were big parts of her life.
Brenda was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick Bean Sr.; and granddaughter Theresa VanVeen.
She is survived by her children, Cynthia J. Bean, Cathie Bean VanVeen (Eric VanVeen), Patrick Bean Jr. (Cyndi I. Bean); Aaron Bean (Mellissa Bean), and Nathaniel Bean.
Her grandchildren are Felicia L. Allinger, Aaryn D. Licari (Jake Licari), David Bean, Adam Bean, Ashton Bean, Mason Bean, Kate Bean, James Bean, Leo Turcott, Francesca Turcott and Brittney Bean; and her great-grandchildren are Matthew Moon Davis, Coby A. Licari, and Haelyn Taylor Boyd.
Pallbearers will be Patrick Bean Jr., Aaron Bean, Nathaniel Bean, David Bean, Adam Bean and James Bean.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers or donations, “you call or spend extra time with your loved ones.”
