The Sitka Shore Shots youth clay target team earned the Alaska State Scholastic Clay Target Program State Championship in Anchorage last week.
Competing against 20 teams over several days, the Shore Shots attempted to knock down more than 50,000 targets launched. The Sitka Shore Shots also won the High Overall team trophy for the tournament, as well as many individual first-, second-, and third-place awards. The Shore Shots are the first Southeast Alaska team to win the state championship.
The Sitka Shore Shots thanked its sponsors: Samson Tug & Barge, Sitka Electric, Guns of Alaska, Birch Equipment, First Bank, AC Lakeside, LFS Marine Supplies, Seafood Producers Cooperative, Delta Western, Hames Corporation and Aspen Hotels of Alaska.
“Without the continued support of our generous sponsors, this youth program would not be possible,” a spokesperson wrote.
