Sitka Visit

Posted

Dear Editor: We had the pleasure of visiting Sitka during a recent cruise ship stop aboard the Norwegian Bliss, and although our time in port was brief, it left a lasting impression. We were absolutely delighted by the incredible weather during our visit – sunny skies and warmer temperatures made it feel like Sitka rolled out the red carpet just for us.

The natural beauty along the Sitka Cross Trail and the Indian River Trail, which we hiked during our short time ashore, was so peaceful and refreshing. After our hike, we enjoyed the friendly local vibe with a stop at the Pioneer Bar for a pint and some delicious fried shrimp and halibut, a perfect ending to our afternoon. Even with just a few hours, we felt a sense of connection to Sitka that has us already dreaming of a return – this time for a longer stay, so we can fully soak in all that your special community has to offer.

Thank you for our warm welcome, and for encouraging us to share.

We hope to see Sitka again real soon. Wishing you well from the Gulf Coast to the Inside Passage.
