Dear Editor: We would like to thank the great Sitka community for giving such a warm welcome to writers arriving from across the country for the first Sitka Writers Retreat.
Thank you in particular to Tongass Mist for arranging and working logistics for the retreat. Also to Sitka Fine Arts Camp for providing the newly-renovated Whitmore Hall for lodging, and the classrooms in Odess Theater for our seminars.
In deep appreciation to Mary Goddard for sharing her insight and reflections on making art on Tlingit aani, and also to Barbara and Dan at Fresh Fish, and the good folks at Ashmo’s for food. Also to Ed and Company at Mangiare, and to Renee Trafton at the Beak Restaurant for fine food fare, along with the Bayview Pub.
Thank you to Sitka Sauna Rentals for providing warmth, and to the Sitka Sound Science Center for allowing us to post up by the beach to cold-dip!
