Master Sgt. Donald B. Lock (retired) passed away in Sitka on Oct. 30, 2025, after a brief battle with cancer. He was 70.
Don was born Nov. 30, 1954, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, to Alan B. Lock and Irene F. (Wurtak) Seixas. He grew up in Canada until the family moved to California when he was a teenager. They settled in San Pedro, and Don graduated from San Pedro High School.
After high school Don enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served his country for 21 years. He was an aircraft maintenance specialist, and he especially loved the B52s, which he worked on. During his time in the Air Force he was stationed all around the world and country, including Diego Garcia during Desert Storm, where he served as a B52 crew chief.
In 2000, Don moved to Sitka, where he worked for Northern Sales, Aero Services and Harris Air. He was happiest being active outdoors – whether it be fishing, hunting, camping, or simply doing yard work.
Don is survived by his father, Alan Lock of California; his mother, Irene Seixas of Tennessee; his life partner of 25 years, Lyn Blankenship; daughter Kristen (and Jon) Fitt of Illinois; son Eric Lock of Juneau; stepdaughter Kylee (and RJ) Miguel of Sitka; and stepson Ryan Hickok of Sitka.
Also surviving are his brothers, David (and Marissa) Lock of Texas and Peter Lock of California; sister Carol (and John) Holmes of Tennessee; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Don will be interred at Sitka National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to a charity of choice.
