Dear Editor: The 23rd annual Fire Department volunteers Aid-to-Member fundraiser was once again a GREAT success thanks to the continued support of the community and the donations from our generous businesses and individuals.
Thank you to those merchants and individuals who generously donated to our silent auction: ACE Hardware, Alaska Computer Center/Office Supplies/Radio Shack, Alaska Marine Lines/Arrowhead Transfer, Alaska Pure Sea Salt Co., Alaska Seaplanes, Backdoor Cafe, Baranof Wilderness Lodge, beak Restaurant, Coldwater Bar and Grill, First Baptist Church, Fortress of the Bear, GCI, Old Harbor Books, Howie Pitts Enterprises, Sitka Furniture Store, Sitka Rose Gallery, Sitka Sound Seafoods, Stereo North, Sweet Sisters Caramels, Sitka Work and Rugged Gear, Alexis Hagestad, Dave Miller, Jason Rinas, Joe/Florence Murray, Michelle Snowden, Mimi Goodwin, Paulla Hardy, Shelly Atkinson, Stanley Schoening, Tris deBell and to whomever donated the hummingbird-themed gift basket as we had no name for that.
Thank you to the Sentinel for running our PSAs. KIFW and Raven Radio for announcing our PSAs. Thank you for the contributions of food and refreshments from Sea Mart/Safeway, Scott Calhoun and Sitka Bottling, AC Lakeside.
Thanks to the community and department members who rented tables to sell their treasures, the Centennial Hall staff for use of the tables for the rummage treasures, crafts and jewelry. A shout-out to Police Chief Hall and the other participants who were brave enough to be dunked in our tank.
A BIG thank you goes to the volunteers and staff who attended our pre-planning meetings and showed up on the event day to help set up, take down and help wherever there was a need.
See you next year.
