Thanks, American Legion

Dear Editor: I would like to give my thanks to the veterans and community members at the American Legion Post 13 for sponsoring me to attend Boys State.

This program taught me about how a democratic society runs through elections and bill writing, while also teaching me more about integrity and character.

As a 17-year-old senior at Sitka High, I was interested in government from my classes, but at Utah Boys State I was able to gain a new understanding of how a representative government functions.

I'm very appreciative of the American Legion and especially Commander Vince Winter for making this possible for me.
