Thomas Williamson Dies; Sitka Resident Since 1976

Posted

Thomas Williamson, a resident of both Sitka and Sequim, Washington, died June 30 in Washington.

Tom was born in 1954 in Ketchikan, the son of Tom and Paula Williamson. He grew up living and working at his parents' logging camp, and loved the remote Alaska lifestyle.

Tom met Danine Engel at Ketchikan High School, and they married in 1974. They moved to Sitka in 1976 and Tom started W.S. Construction with a wheel barrow and a shovel. He always talked about the help he got from longtime Sitkans to get his start.

Tom loved the ocean and figuring out how to build things, so marine construction was a perfect fit for him. He sold his business about 10 years ago, and he and his wife have been living in Sequim in the winter, Sitka in the summer.

Tom's greatest love was for his family, and his most valued time was spent with his wife and daughters. Tom's honesty and generosity will be missed.

Tom is survived by his wife, Danine; his daughters, Sharon, of Renton, Washington, and Lisa, of Kamiah, Idaho; his dog Buddy; and his siblings Susan, Betsy, Dan and Christina and their spouses.

Tom has requested that no services be held. If you would like to donate a bag of food to the animal shelter or a life jacket to Kids Don't Float in his honor, Tom would have appreciated that, his family said.
