Dear Editor: I would like to express my enthusiastic support for Kevin Mosher for mayor. I strongly believe he is the right person at the right time for Sitka. I like his thoughtful approach, how he really listens to public input, and treats everyone with respect. I have watched how he takes the lead and follows through to make positive changes happen.
Personally over the past many years I have reached out to Kevin with concerns about lots of different issues, from child care and senior services to recreation, and he is always open-minded. Others have told me that what they like best about him is that he really listens empathetically and is willing to change his mind, when hearing from diverse perspectives. I couldn't agree more and I appreciate his humility and his deep caring for the good of our community.
Kevin is willing to put in the time to address both the problems and opportunities facing Sitka.
Over the past eight years on the Assembly, he has been a sponsor for ordinances and initiatives for affordable housing, child care, the haulout and recreation, to name a few. And I would be remiss if I failed to note his unwavering support for our schools.
Mayor is an important role which should bring the community together and move us forward. Kevin with his unifying, even-keeled, yet “get-it-done” approach, fits this bill. I offer my strong support for Kevin Mosher to be our next mayor.
