Warming Shelter

Dear Editor: The Board of the Sitka Homeless Coalition would like to extend a huge thank you to the community, especially those who made targeted donations to help us open our winter warming shelter at the United Methodist Church and keep it open through the end of March.

Whether you bought baked goods during a tabling event at Sea Mart, donated snacks and supplies, or gave us a monetary donation specifically for the shelter, we thank you. During the wet early winter, and the cold and snow that followed, you helped save lives by keeping folks off the street in a warm, dry and safe space. We couldn’t care for our neighbors without your support, and we thank you. Gunalchéesh.
