Local swimming and wrestling teams are set to compete this weekend, and Sitka and Edgecumbe High volleyball players will duel Tuesday and Wednesday for the regional title.
Sitka High School and Mt. Edgecumbe wrestlers are headed to Ketchikan for matches. It’s their first non-duel meet of the season so far.
Sitka Wolves swimmers and divers begin their regional championship meet Friday, the first ever to be held at the new Mt. Edgecumbe pool.

Sitka’s swim team has proven itself capable this season. Freestyle races and relay events are expected to be tight.
The state meet will be in Anchorage, November 15-16.
The volleyball regional tournament begins Tuesday night at 7 p.m., at Sitka High. The second round is set for Wednesday at 7 p.m., but this time at MEHS. If the result of this play is a tie, a final competition will be held Thursday at 7 p.m., at Sitka.
The winner heads to the state meet in Anchorage, November 14-16.
