Weldon Ray White was born June 18, 1942, in Phoenix, Arizona, to Frank and Dorothy White. He grew up in Elk Grove, California, and subsequently moved to Malin, Oregon.
He served in the Vietnam War from 1967 to 1969. Upon his return from Vietnam, he married and had two children, Kathy and David. He became a police officer in Merrill, Oregon, which was the beginning of a long and honorable career.
Weldon remarried Susan White in 1973, and they enjoyed 52 years of happiness and marvelous adventures. They moved to Sitka, where he was a police officer in various capacities with the Sitka Police Department for 25 years.
Weldon retired from policing in 1997, and he and Susan moved to Pinetop, Arizona, where they enjoyed numerous outdoor activities. They expanded their interests to include canine search and rescue with their Doberman, Dylan. In 2004 they moved to Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho, and remained active and involved in numerous activities.
Weldon died unexpectedly from a stroke on July 19, 2025. He was 83.
Weldon was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Dorothy, and his brother, Wayne. He is survived by his wife, Susan, two children, Kathy and David, and his sister, Elaine.
A celebration of his life was held at the family home July 27. In lieu of flowers, it was requested that donations be made to NEWBY-GINNINGS in Post Falls, a veteran support group. Weldon’s online memorial is at www.englishfuneralchapel.com.
