Dear Editor: Alaska Native Sisterhood, Camp 4, the Ganaxteidee Clan and Carlene Larsen would like to extend grateful thanks to all the people and organizations that contributed to our fundraising efforts for the new wheelchair for Carlene Larsen. We made our goal of $4,500! We also thank Mike Finn, wheelchair owner, for his patience and kindness while the funds were being raised.
We would like to acknowledge and thank the following organizations who donated to the cause: Alaska Native Brotherhood Camp 1, Alaska Native Sisterhood Camp 4, and the Sitka White Elephant Shop – Sue Fleming, Kari Lundgren and the board – who came to our rescue with the remainder of what was needed to reach our goal relieving the need for continued fundraising efforts which was such an enormous help!
We would also like to thank the following individuals who contributed in person or via the ‘‘Go Fund Me’’ site: Kathleen Hill, Linda McGraw, Johnny Gonzales, Ann Davis, Shalynn Tompkinson, Donna Bezezekoff, Gail Roderick, Yvonne Welch, Lindsay Evans, Kay Simmons, Peter Karras, Faleene Fisher, Rebecca Larsen, John Sweeney, Stephanie and Brian Weddel, and one anonymous donor, you know who you are! Gunalcheesh!
We also a want to thank the people and businesses who mailed in donations: Mike Mayo F/V Coral Lee, Tess Heyburn, Deanna and Lee Bennett, Karen Lucas, and Bob and Jan Love. Gunalcheesh!
We are so grateful to the volunteers at the fundraisers: Adriana Achee of Mexcala, Colleen Saribas, Chad Titell, Vivian Holt, Kodi and Findley Richards and all the people who came to eat, and all those who put cash in the collection jar. Gunalcheesh!
The generosity of people in our little town is astounding – how we take care of each other on the edge of the vast Pacific Ocean, where there are no others. We truly live in a beautiful community of such good-hearted people. Thank you, Sitka!
Karen Lucas,
ANS Camp 4 secretary
