The Sitka High Wolves traveled south to play basketball in Ketchikan over the weekend, but the Kayhi Kings came out on top in all four games.
The Lady Wolves put up a close fight on the first day, falling 41-37 on Friday and 47-32 Saturday.
Sitka’s boys lost 71-39 Friday but closed the gap on Saturday, losing 60-44.
These were the first travel games for a Sitka team since cross country season in the fall of 2020.
But the season is only ramping up as coronavirus risk levels remain relatively low.
Cross-bridge rivals, the Lady Wolves and Mt. Edgecumbe Lady Braves meet for their first match of the season Tuesday at Sitka High.
Junior varsity teams play at 5:30 p.m. and varsity plays at 7 p.m. at Sitka High. Audiences are not allowed in person, but the games will be livestreamed via NFHSnetwork.com.
The Lady Wolves play again later in the week, this time against Thunder Mountain, of Juneau.
The first match-up is set for Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at Sitka High, with another game scheduled for Thursday at 7 p.m.
