Police Blotter
    Sitka police logged the following calls as of 8 a.m. today:
January 17
    At 8:40 a.m. a woman said she’d found a man in her vehicle in the 3200 block of HPR. He had since left. Charges will be forwarded to the ADA.
    Ravens were reported going through trash in the back of a truck at 100 Lincoln St. The owner said only cardboard was in the truck but he’d pick up any mess.
    At 3 p.m. a woman said her JBL Extreme 2 speaker/boom box was just stolen from her car at 201 Katlian.
    A caller said his wallet had been stolen and purchases were made using the credit cards in it.
January 18
    A caller said a man had threatened to harm himself. He had made the  threat in the past, the caller said, and owns a .45 handgun.
    At 2 p.m. the library said two young boys, one on crutches, were unable to contact a relative to come get them. Police gave one boy a ride.
    At 8:42 p.m. a caller said he’d been walking to his car at 100 Lincoln Street when he saw a tall man dressed in black trying to break into his car. The man left when the caller arrived.
    At 11:37 p.m. a Lake Street caller said neighbors were playing music loudly, keeping the caller awake.  Police issued a woman a warning.
January 19
    At 3:38 a.m. a caller reported seeing water leaking from a storage unit in the 1200 block of SMC. City employees cut the lock on one of the units in order to stop the water flow.
    A women’s bike that was turned in  was found to have been registered in 2007 and owned by someone no longer living in Sitka.
    At 10:27 p.m. a caller reported seeing two vehicles sliding down Lance Drive, which is very icy. Public Works was to put sand on the road.
    At 1:30 p.m. a caller reported seeing someone throw a bag off a bridge on Cascade Creek Road. He found blood and remains either of an animal or human inside. Officers determined it was the remains of a sea otter.
January 20
    At 6 a.m. a caller said a taxi as stuck in a ditch on Wolff Drive due to icy road conditions. Officers gave two passengers transportation, contacted a road worker about the ice, then gave the taxi driver a ride home.
    A chain found at Katlian and HPR was turned in.
    A driver said he was told he hit a side mirror while passing a vehicle. Both drivers received report forms.
    An Andrew Hope Street resident reported finding her door open, motion detector lights on and footprints  under her bedroom window.
   
Emergency Calls
    Sitka Fire Department received three ambulance calls Friday, one Saturday, four Sunday and four Monday.
    At 4:48 p.m. Monday a fire truck was sent to the post office on a false alarm.
     
Coast Guard
    Coast Guard Air Station Sitka helicopters were dispatched to pick up a 71-year-man with stroke symptoms in Hoonah on Sunday, and a 61-year-old man with stroke symptoms in Haines on Monday. Both were flown to Sitka.
