Five Sitka High students were recognized as Superior Soloists in the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival in Moscow, Idaho. They are Jesse Hughey, Quinn Langbauer, Coral Pendell, Megan Roderick and Kera Newman. SHS band director Brent Purvis said it’s “very rare” for one school to have five award-winning soloists.

From On the Go: Who says Sitka doesn’t have everything? Two local gentlemen have complained lately about getting obscene phone calls – from a female. Heaven only knows how many other victims there are who are keeping silent.
