Dear Editor: The pouring rain, then some showers did not keep community supporters from coming out to our 3 to 5 Pumpkin Patch fundraiser.
We have so many to thank again.
First of all we want to give a big shout out of THANKS to the sponsors of our fundraiser – AC Lakeside, Sitka Swirls, Charlie’s Produce, Jessie’s Uptown Dogs, The Donut Lady, and Fish Eye. Your support and generosity is appreciated by us all.
We want to especially acknowledge Vince Winters who is always willing and ready for our fundraiser. Thank you, Michael, the produce manager at AC Lakeside, for having the 12 barrels outside ready for the Sitka High students who came early to set the pumpkins out. The set-up crew did a great job and got everything done in record time! We can’t forget to say a special thank you to the AC Lakeside clerks who were kept very busy ringing up the pumpkins sales inside.
With so many happenings that weekend – with Alaska Day events, football, swim meet, SAT testing, DDF and Saturday school at Mt. Edgecumbe High School, we appreciated the Sitka High and Mt. Edgecumbe National Honor Society members and others who came and volunteered for us. Even our preschool parents were busy so we were so glad to have the extra help.
We were also treated to the Seattle Firefighters Pipes and Drums group who came in the morning and played for us in the parking lot. It was very special for a few kids who even got the opportunity to play the drum when the group was done playing.
Big thanks go out to Sitka Public Works for letting us use the cones, to Fortress of the Bear for letting us borrow the bales of straw, and to Dan Jones for providing his red “Willy” for photos. Hopefully many parents got fun fall photos that day in the patch, by the truck, and by the big skeleton head we borrowed from the Hames family. We can’t forget to recognize and thank the Daily Sitka Sentinel who puts the articles and photo in the newspaper for us. We so appreciate YOU!
Many thanks to all those who came to walk through our Pumpkin Patch and supported our fall fundraiser. It was definitely a very successful event because of all of YOU.
