Yvonne Andreason, Former Sitkan, Dies in Washington

Yvonne Alice Andreason

Yvonne Alice Andreason passed away peacefully on March 12, 2020, at Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett, Washington. She was 72.

She was born in Sitka August 7, 1947, the youngest daughter of Helen Alice Butler and Cecil Fred Wentz.

She attended Sitka schools, and in 1966 married Kit W. Andreason, a member of the United States Coast Guard who was serving in Sitka. Even though the ship’s captain wouldn’t give them permission to get married, department heads saw differently. The two were married for 53 wonderful years.

Yvonne was a homemaker, and enjoyed doing things with her kids – going to movies was a favorite treat.

The Andreasons moved to Everett from Sitka in 1989.

Yvonne was survived by her three beautiful children, Kenneth (Jaime) Andreason, and Jason (Christina) Andreason, both of Everett, and Charlotte (Marc) Brisbois-Sumner, Yakima, Washington. Her grandchildren are  Triana Andreason and Logan Andreason, of Everett; and Doug and Laura Lawrence, of Yakima.

A private graveside service followed by a celebration of life by the family will be held.

Thanks to the generosity and expertise of the the Central Council of Tlingit and Haida Indian Tribes of Alaska broadband department, Tidal Network ; Christopher Cropley, director of Tidal Network; and Luke Johnson, Tidal Network technician, SitkaSentinel.com is again being updated. Tidal Network has been working tirelessly to install Starlink satellite equipment for city and other critical institutions, including the Sentinel, following the sudden breakage of GCI's fiberoptic cable on August 29, which left most of Sitka without internet or phone connections. CCTHITA's public-spirited response to the emergency is inspiring.
