Homeless Connect
    Volunteers Sought
    The Easter Group will hold its third Project Homeless Connect at Harrigan Centennial Hall 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Jan. 29 and is seeking volunteers. Training session is required of anyone wishing to volunteer.
    The first training session will be 6-7 p.m. Jan. 22 in the Centennial Hall Exhibit Room. The next is slated 10-11 a.m. Jan. 25 in the Centennial Hall Rousseau Room.
    Anyone wishing to volunteer must attend one of the sessions. Contact Mary Suminiski at 747-6594 or Dorrie Farrell at 747-4109 with questions.

    SEARHC Holds
    Cervical Health
    Awareness Event
    SEARHC WISEWOMAN Women’s Health Program is sponsoring an informational event about cervical health awareness and what every woman needs to know about preventing cervical cancer noon-3 p.m. Jan. 22 at the SEARHC Litehouse.
    January is Cervical Health Awareness Month, and a reminder to schedule women’s health screenings. Regular Pap tests give health providers a chance to notice changes in the cervix before they become cervical cancer.
    Healthcare providers may recommend an HPV test for those age 30 and older.
    Those attending the event may qualify for free women’s health screening.

    Open Mic Set
    Sitka Folk and the Greater Sitka Arts Council will host a benefit Open Mic Jan. 26 at the Larkspur Cafe. Sign-up starts at 6:30 p.m. and the show begins at 7 p.m. Those with questions may call Ted Howard at 747-5482.


    Emblem Club Meets
    Sitka Emblem Club will meet 7 p.m. Jan. 23 at the Elks Lodge. Secret sisters will be revealed. New secret sister forms for this year are available from Judi.
    The group will hold a meeting following dinner.


    School Board Meets
    Sitka School Board will hold a special meeting 5 p.m. Jan. 23 at the district office board room to review superintendent applications. The board will meet in executive session.

    WOTM to Meet
    Women of the Moose will meet 6:30 p.m. Jan. 22 at the Moose Lodge.
    On the agenda is the valentine’s dinner fundraiser and the upcoming spring conference in Petersburg.
    Members are invited to attend and join a committee. Call Laurie at 738-6919 or Faith at 752-0306.

    BMS PAC Meets
    Blatchley Middle School will hold a PAC meeting in the BMS library 6-7 p.m. Jan. 23.
    Topics of discussion will include math review and update, and health. Carol Potrzuski will make a presentation on the reading program.

    To be Discussed
    A math curriculum selection committee meeting for both Keet Gooshi Heen and Baranof elementary schools will be held 3-5 p.m. Jan. 22 at Baranof Elementary School.
    The public is invited to attend.
