    They are as follows:
    – Best of Parade ($100)  Sea Mart Quality Foods.
    – Best of Theme ($75) Sitka High School baseball team.
    – Most Enthusiastic ($50) Sitka Fine Arts Camp
It was the first time in several years that cash prizes were awarded to parade winners.

Chamber Director Jennifer Robinson said she hopes to expand the number of categories, and encourage even more participation, in the parade next year.
This year’s Fourth of July celebration included fireworks on the eve of the Fourth, food and game booths for three days, dances and dance performances, kids games, the duck race, and a free root beer float event.
The weather held out for most of the holiday with mainly clear skies for the fireworks and a light rain falling during and after the parade: just .07 inch of rain was measured on Friday.

Alaska Native Brotherhood Camp 1 honored four youth baseball coaches Monday: Jon Calhoun, John Abbott Jr., Louise Nichols and Bill Howey, awarding them Sitka ANB club jackets. Mrs. Nichols was the first woman to coach a male athletic team in Sitka since Ora Kuykendall cranked out champion basketball teams at Sheldon Jackson School in the 1930s through the 1940s.
