SHS Swimming
Meeting July 14
New Sitka High School swim team head coach Ben Adams will hold an informational meeting for swimmers who intend to swim during the upcoming season and their parents 6-7 p.m. Monday, July 14, in Room 208 at Blatchley Middle School.
The upcoming season will be discussed and required forms for participating will be handed out.
Little League
Tourney Tonight
Sitka Little League will host the 9- to 10-year-old all-star tournament this weekend at Moller Field.
Games are: 6 p.m. tonight, Juneau and Ketchikan; 6 p.m. Friday, Sitka and Ketchikan; 6 p.m. Saturday Sitka and Juneau; and the championship game will be noon Sunday.
High Tunnels
Topic of Talk
Samia Savell, of the USDA Juneau office, will hold an informal gathering to learn about how to extend the growing season using high tunnels 5-6 p.m. July 10 at Centennial Hall. Call Lisa with questions at 747-5985.
TRX Class Set
At Hames Center
Kaylee Kraft will lead a TRX Xtreme series at the Hames Center beginning July 21.
Early morning and evening classes will be offered. TRX Xtreme utilizes high interval intensity training to rev up metabolism. Traditional TRX movements are presented in a high intensity cardio circuit to build both endurance and strength. Register at 747-5080 or hamescenter.com.
Hames Returns
To Normal Hours
Hames Center will return to its regular schedule beginning July 14.
The schedule will be 6 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday through Friday (open 5:30 a.m. for members) and 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday.
SCH Foundation
Meeting on Tap
The Sitka Community Hospital Foundation will hold a luncheon meeting noon July 14 in the hospital classroom. Lunch will be provided by the Basement Bistro.
The agenda will include planning election of officers, updates on the hospital CEO selection, and the capital campaign. The meeting is open to the public. Call President Ann Wilkinson at 747-2707 with any questions.
Fire Department
Benefit July 26
The annual Super Saturday fundraiser will be held 10 a.m.-2 p.m. July 26 at the Sitka Fire Hall.
The event will include chili, hot dogs, silent auction, bouncy castle and a dunk tank. Tables are available to sell garage sale treasures, crafts and other items.

Ohio Volunteers
At Sitka Lutheran
James and Carol Prahst, residents of Parma, Ohio, and snowbird volunteers in the Florida State Parks, will volunteer at Sitka Lutheran Church in July.
He is a retired science teacher and she works in the family day care and music departments at their church, Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
Black powder cannons, re-enactment ceremonies and playing dulcimers are examples of the couple’s interests while serving as volunteers in the Florida State Parks.
They are grandparents of six and active in their church.
While in Sitka they will greet visitors, explain Finnish-Lutheran history, interpret the historic Lutheran Cemetery on Princess Way, care for the building and share the Gospel.

Rotary Work Party
To Clean Goddard
The Sitka Rotarians will be doing maintenance at the Goddard Springs bathhouses all day Sunday, July 13.
