Windows Workshop
    Set at Boathouse
    Sitka’s Maritime Heritage Society invites the public to the Japonski Island Boathouse 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, July 26, for a work party and workshop on historic windows restoration.
    Participants will learn the ins and outs of rebuilding old-style windows.
    ‘‘Every hour of donated time counts twice, first in helping accomplish the work, but also because this workshop is part of an on-going effort to match a DNR Historic Preservation Fund grant with volunteer labor,’’ Sitka’s Maritime Hertage Society said.

    BIHA Board Meets
    Baranof Island Housing Authority board of commissioners will meet 5 p.m. July 22 at 245 Katlian Street. The public is invited to attend.








    Golf Tourney
    Set for Sunday
    Sitka Chamber’s sixth annual golf tournament will swing into action 7 a.m.-2 p.m. July 27 at the Sea Mountain Golf Course.
    Alaska Communications is sponsoring the event.
    The registration cost of $100 includes 18 holes of golf, admission to the awards lunch and chances to win  prizes including $25,000 for a hole-in-one.


    Golf Tourney
    To    Benefit SSF
    Sea Mountain Golf course will offer the ‘‘Who’s Your Buddy? Who’s Your Pal?’’ Golf Tournament 9 a.m. Aug. 3 as a benefit for the Sitka Seafood Festival.
    The 18-hole tournament is a two-man team, alternate shot game, both men’s and women’s divisions will play. Awards will include prizes for both divisions.
    The entry fee is $130 per two-person team. Chef Larry’s sack lunches will be available.

    No Toy Donations
    The White Elephant Shop is not accepting toy donations at this time.

 

Thanks to the generosity and expertise of the the Central Council of Tlingit and Haida Indian Tribes of Alaska broadband department, Tidal Network ; Christopher Cropley, director of Tidal Network; and Luke Johnson, Tidal Network technician, SitkaSentinel.com is again being updated. Tidal Network has been working tirelessly to install Starlink satellite equipment for city and other critical institutions, including the Sentinel, following the sudden breakage of GCI's fiberoptic cable on August 29, which left most of Sitka without internet or phone connections. CCTHITA's public-spirited response to the emergency is inspiring.
