To Remember
Dana Anderson
Dana L. Anderson passed away at his home in Snohomish, Wash., on Feb. 10, after an eight-year battle with dementia. He was 66.
A celebration of his life will be held 6 p.m. July 8 at the Pioneer Bar. All of his friends are invited to attend.
Dana was born Nov. 3, 1948, in Everett, Wash., and grew up there. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea in 1968 and was a true patriot and staunch conservative.
He married Rita Rice in 1973 in Everett, and started Dana’s Transmission Service. In 1977 their first child, Alison, was born, followed by a son, Greg, in 1980.
Dana was a true Man’s Man, who could do anything he set his mind to. In 1986 he decided he wanted to go commercial fishing in Alaska. He bought a boat and loaded up his family and away they went, fishing summers.
He bought Apple Island in Sitka, and operated a successful fishing lodge there for 17 years – guiding fishing trips proved to be his true life’s passion. Later, the Andersons had a house on Galankin Island, and continued fishing here summers and returning to Snohomish for the rest of the year.
Dana lived a great life, doing all the things he loved – hunting, fishing, collecting antique cars and hanging with his kids and grandkids.
He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years Rita; daughter, Alison Anderson, Snohomish; son, Greg (Jenny) Anderson of Lake Stevens; grandchildren Kellen, Kayla, Cylar and Reagan; sister, Diane (Dan); and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mae and Lionel, and sister, Dolores.
His family thanked all for the support. “Dana, we lost you way too soon, but know you are now in a better place,” his family wrote.
