Retirement Party
For Jane Eidler
The public is invited to celebrate Jane Eidler’s retirement and 30-plus years of swimming instruction, lifeguarding, teaching, coaching and pool management 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 21, at the pool.
Turkey dogs, veggie burgers and fruit will be served at the pool party.
Tribal Council Meets
The Sitka Tribe of Alaska Tribal Council will meet 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 15, at the Sheet’ka Kwáan Naa Kahídi.
The meeting is open to the public, and includes an invitation for public comment on issues of concern under “Tribal Citizens to be Heard.”

For Local Authors
Old Harbor Books will host a reception and talk with local authors/photographers Larisa and Ernest Manewal to present their new book, “Southeast Alaska: A Photographic Passage,” 6-8 Tuesday, July 7.
Seafood Festival
Seeks Volunteers
The 6th annual Sitka Seafood Festival is scheduled for Aug. 6-9.
The festival is seeking volunteers to help prior, during and after the festival including kitchen, banquet, parade, contests, games, Highland Games, booths, tent set-up and take down, stage hands for bands and cooking demos, and more.
