Stress Management
Course at Hames
Sitka Community Hospital and the Hames Center are teaming up to present the Stress Less Challenge.
Aug. 24-Sept. 7, SCH’s Director of Health Promotion Doug Osborne will guide participants through a four-week course that will help them craft and practice a personalized relaxation plan, 7-8 p.m. Mondays at the Hames Center. Set BB Open Gym
Sitka High School invites its students and alumni to participate in a basketball open gym 4-5:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 23, at the school gymnasium. For more information, contact SHS Activities Director Lindsey Jorgensen at 966-1956. More dates and times will be determined.
Circuit Training
Class at Hames
‘‘Sane Circuit,’’ a free interval circuit training class, is available at the Hames Center 4:15 p.m. Monday, Aug. 31, taught by Emily Reilly.

Conditioning
Class Offered
The Hames Center is offering a free “total body conditioning” class 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, with Hillary Seeland.

TRX Offered
TRX instructor Grace Brooks will offer introductory and advanced courses starting Sept. 7.

Harp Sing Set
The fourth Sunday Sitka Sacred Harp Sing is set 3:30-5 p.m. Aug. 23 at the Pioneers Home Chapel. No experience is necessary. Call 738-2089.
Fish to Schools
Photo Drive Set
The Fish to Schools fish and photo drive is calling commercial fishermen to help with its annual coho drive, which starts Aug. 24.
Fishermen are being asked to consider donating a few of their fish to ensure that kids in Sitka schools will be served wild salmon every week.
Fish to Schools is also collecting photos of fishermen in action. Photos and caption of fishermen on the water can be emailed to This email address is being protected from spambots. Childbirth Ed
Classes Offered
Sitka Community Hospital will offer a Childbirth Education class 9 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, on the lower level of the hospital in the classroom.
Kat Richards, R.N., will be instructing on topics including: end-of-pregnancy issues, natural techniques of labor, informed choices, recovery from birth and breastfeeding.
The Sept. 12 class has been canceled.
The cost is $55 per couple. Healthy foods and drinks are provided. To register, call 747-1722, with payment to be dropped off at Mountainside Family Healthcare prior to the day of class.
