Celtic Dance

Classes on Tap

A new session of Celtic dance classes for ages pre-kindergarten through adults starts the week of January 25 on the SJ Campus.

SLL Board to Meet

Sitka Little League board will meet 6 p.m. Tuesday, January 26, in the Sitka Community Hospital classroom (downstairs).

The meeting is open to the public. Those wanting to help with the upcoming season are asked to attend.

Sets Registration

Registration for Sitka Little League’s 2016 season is open.

Visit sitkalittleleague.org to sign up for baseball and softball. Tryouts/skills evaluations (for players 9 years and older) will be held noon-5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 14. and Sunday, Feb. 21, at Blatchley Middle School.

SHS Graduation

Party Planning Set

The 2016 SHS graduation party parents meeting is planned 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 26, in the Blatchley Middle School library.

 

Harp Sing Set

The fourth Sunday Sitka sacred harp sing is set 3:30-5 p.m. Jan. 24 at the Pioneers Home Chapel. Beginners and listeners are welcome. Call 738-2089 with questions.

The Alaska Native Sisterhood will  meet 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 26, at the ANB Founders Hall, 235 Katlian Street.

City League

VB to Register

Registration for City League volleyball is open.

Teams of all skill levels can participate. Those who don’t have a team can sign up online to find one. The season begins Feb. 8.

Sitka Community Schools is seeking players for 4x4 indoor soccer tournaments. Games will be Monday and Wednesday evenings and Saturday afternoons Jan. 25 through Feb. 6.

The Youth Totem Pole Project blessing of the log ceremony will be held at Sitka National Historical Park visitor center. Pacific High youths and carver Tommy Joseph will be introduced and the story and design of the totem pole project will be presented.

Sitka Volunteer Fire Department reports ice on Swan Lake is 7-9 inches deep and safe for skating. However, officials warn skaters to avoid the end of the lake near Lakeside Grocery, since the ice is thinner there.
