She was born March 25, 1930, and raised in Saginaw, Michigan. Jackie attended nursing school in Lansing, Michigan, and came to Sitka in 1951 to work at Mt. During this chapter in her life, Jackie married and raised five children. She provided daycare in the community and later worked at the Sitka Pioneers Home.
After state retirement, Jackie worked at the Sitka Hotel as a desk clerk. She enjoyed daily walks in Totem Park with her beloved corgi, Corki. She was a devout Jehovah’s Witness and was well known for her service in the community, her love and generosity to others, her hand-knitted socks, gloves, hats, scarfs, sweaters and other knitted and crocheted items she generously shared with everyone she met. Jackie never left Sitka saying “she found the end of the road.”
