Goodbyes to be Said For Greg Thrush On Nov. 17

Greg Thrush

Family, friends, fans and others who knew him are invited to attend a graveside service at Sitka National Cemetery at 11 a.m. Thursday, November 17, for Thomas Gregory Thrush, mostly (affectionally, lovingly) known as Greg.  He will be laid to rest with his infant son, Alexander Vaughn Thrush.

A celebration of his life will be held immediately after the service at Harrigan Centennial Hall.

Greg passed away very unexpectedly on November 1 in Ketchikan.

Greg is the husband of Kelli (Parrish) Thrush, father to Kyle Gillian, Tiffany (Gillian) Pickrell and Sean Thrush.

Some of his greatest joys in life, if not the greatest, are his grandchildren: Haddi Jo Pickrell, Bella Sue Gillian, Jaina Raine Pickrell, Gabriel Thomas Gillian, Eleazar Vaughn Pickrell, Ezra Gregory Thrush and Sweet Vivian Mae Thrush, who will all miss Umpah greatly.

Greg started his USCG military career aboard the Cutter Woodrush in Sitka and went on to retire almost 30 years later from the Cutter Nashon based in Ketchikan. At the time of his death, he worked for Alaska Airlines in Ketchikan.

Thanks to the generosity and expertise of the the Central Council of Tlingit and Haida Indian Tribes of Alaska broadband department, Tidal Network ; Christopher Cropley, director of Tidal Network; and Luke Johnson, Tidal Network technician, SitkaSentinel.com is again being updated. Tidal Network has been working tirelessly to install Starlink satellite equipment for city and other critical institutions, including the Sentinel, following the sudden breakage of GCI's fiberoptic cable on August 29, which left most of Sitka without internet or phone connections. CCTHITA's public-spirited response to the emergency is inspiring.
