Services for Ashley Rose Grearson, a former Sitka resident, are scheduled 1 p.m. Friday, June 14, at Sitka Memorial Park.
Ashley died June 2 in Juneau, at the age of 38.
She was born Aug. 22, 1985, in Kenai, the daughter of Gary Grearson, who was from Appleton, Wisconsin, and Theresa Helem of Sitka.
The Grearsons moved to Sitka in 1987, and Ashley lived here until 2020, when she moved to Juneau.
Ashley worked at Sitka True Value, and was manager of the Wasilla True Value.
A very talented artist, Ashley was social and outgoing, very loving and with a beautiful smile. She was “a firecracker who never pulled a punch,” a family member said.
Ashley was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her daughter, Grace, of Juneau; her sister Amanda Martin and Amanda’s daughters Hannah and Brianna, of Sitka; brother Tim Bernard of Sitka and his daughters, Emily of Sitka and McKayla Sheakley of Tacoma, Washington; her aunt and uncle Ken and Carole Helem of Sitka and their children, Doug Helem, Jeff Helem and Katie Yuhasz; and aunt and uncle Gerry and Mary Helem of Sitka and their children, Nicole Rennaker and Danielle Helem.
Pallbearers Friday will be Doug Helem, Jeff Helem, Tim Bernard, Kenny Helem, John Martin and Charlie Bacon.

Thanks to the generosity and expertise of the Central Council of Tlingit and Haida Indian Tribes of Alaska broadband department, Tidal Network; Christopher Cropley, director of Tidal Network; and Luke Johnson, Tidal Network technician, SitkaSentinel.com is again being updated. Tidal Network has been working tirelessly to install Starlink satellite equipment for critical institutions, including the Sentinel, following the scheduled maintenance of GCI’s fiberoptic cable starting March, 13th. CCTHITA’s public-spirited response to the outage is inspiring.
