Dorinda Lee (Petraborg) Ray

Dorinda Lee (Petraborg) Ray passed away peacefully December 29, 2024, with family by her side at the Whatcom Hospice House in Bellingham, Washington, following complications from Parkinson’s disease.
Dorinda was born February 19, 1953, in Sitka, and graduated from Sitka High School. She married and raised two children, Lisa and James Ray.
Dorinda was a devoted mother, sister, aunt and a cherished friend. She worked at the Sitka Post Office and was also a commercial fisherman. Later, she and her children moved to Juneau where she worked for the Forest Service until she retired in 2008.
She was preceded in death by her father, Arthur John Petraborg Jr., and her mother, Jacqueline Ann (Jackie) Petraborg.
She is survived by her beloved children, Lisa Ray (Eric Hedland) of Juneau and James Ray (Sarah McLean) of Kasilof; her brothers Gus Petraborg of Rocklin, California, John Petraborg (Katherine Gregoratos) of Sitka, and Mark Petraborg (Carol) of Hawaii; her sister Kathy Petraborg-Ensor (Michael Craig Smith) of Juneau; her cousin Michael Goodwin of Au Gres, Michigan; and many nieces and nephews, each of whom carries a piece of her spirit in their hearts.
Dorinda is remembered for her loving nature and gentle spirit and will be dearly missed; heaven got another angel.

The Assembly agreed Tuesday to extend Quest Imports International’s bulk water purchase contract for another year. The company has been paying the city for its water rights, with the payments to be applied against the purchase price of water when exports finally start.

From On the Go: Steve and Stephanie Vieira had a good time with relatives in California over the California. They’re back at their teaching jobs here now, no doubt happy to be out of all that sunshine.
