Robert Beach

Sitka resident Robert J. “Bob” Beach, passed away on Feb. 23, 2012, while convalescing in Roy, Wash.,  where his daughter, Cindy, was caring for him. He was 83.
He was born May 20, 1928, in Battle Creek, Mich.


He was a high-steel painter by trade, and worked all over the western United States. He arrived in Sitka in August 1998.
He is survived by his wife, Lanis Beach, Sitka; daughters Loretta Beach, Cindy Beach, and Lavada Beach; granddaughter, Mi Mi Beach; and numerous other grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He also is survived by three brothers, Tom Beach, Dick Beach, and Harry Beach, who live in California and Washington.
His desire was to return to Sitka to be with his wife, reconnect with his friends, and use his boat. His ashes will be interred in San Bernardino, Calif., , as he wished to be buried with his beloved mother.
His wife, Lanis, a Sitka School District educator, will hold a gathering with friends in Sitka this coming summer to celebrate his life.
He was a resident of Sitka since August of 1998.

Construction on the $1.4 million building began July 12, 2004, and is expected to be completed this spring.

February 1975

Mary Richards, Pioneer Home recreational therapist, hosted a birthday party for Celina West and Coral Pinkston. Guests included Kate Sulser, Marie McGraw, Suzie and Leslie Sturm, Mary Whitcomb, Polly Swearingen, Bernadette Knight, Wilma Sibona, and Edna Price.
