A memorial reception for Sitka resident Linda Mae See, 62, is planned 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 27, at the Sheet’ka Kwaan Naa Kahidi. A viewing is today from 4 to 6 p.m. at Prewitt’s Funeral Home.
Mrs. See died March 21, 2012, at SEARHC-Mt. Edgecubme Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer. ‘‘She found her way home to those who preceded her in death,’’ family members said.
Linda Mae See was born Oct. 11, 1949, at SEARHC-Mt. Edgecumbe Hospital to Tom and Connie See. She was raised at Mt. Edgecumbe and attended St. Euphrasia High School in Seattle. She was valedictorian of her graduating class on May 26, 1968.
Linda then worked in the girls and boys dorms at Mt. Edgecumbe High School until the BIA closed the school in 1983. She was employed at SEARHC-Mt. Edgecumbe Hospital as a CNA until she retired in October 2003. Nurses would call her “Grammies Linda” because she could keep the babies quiet.
She married Ron Paul and had three children, Noel See, Maryann Ness and JR Paul.
She then met her soulmate, Norman Paul, and had a child, Triska Marie See.
Linda loved the rain and cruisin’ with her grandkids looking for Mr. Bear. She liked making snacks for her grandkids, and watching the Price is Right and QVC on TV. She liked picking salmonberries and making salmonberry jelly. She loved camping with her family and eating burnt hotdogs, her family said.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Connie See; stepfather, Bob Wilkins; brother, Bobby Wilkins; and sister, Eve Wilkins.
She is survived by her son Noel See of Sitka and his children, Greg and Darrin; daughter Maryann Ness and her husband Roger Ness of Sitka and their children, Brennan Stidd, Candice Stidd, Ty Davis, RJ Ness, Becky Ness, Robert Ness and Sidney Ness; son JR Paul and his wife Melissa Driver of Sitka and their children Karmen Buehner of Bend, Ore., and Mercedes Paul and Jazmine, both of Sitka; her daughter, Triska See of Sitka and her son Reese See; and great-grandson Blake Palmatier of Sitka.
She is also survived by her brothers and sisters, Tom See of Anchorage and his children Tommy and Mark; Richard See of Anchorage and his children, Ricky, Bobby and Elisa; Tony See of Anchorage and his children Valirie, Tony, Mike and Laura; brother Carl See of Sitka and his son Jack; sister Barbara See of Seattle and her children RT and Rigel; her sister Donna See of Sitka and her children, Alicia and Kevin; brother Jim Wilkins of Anchorage and his children, Claire and Sonny.
She loved life, her family and her dogs, Sheba and Starla.
The family expressed appreciation to the nurses and doctors on the third floor at SEARHC-Mt. Edgecumbe Hospital – and everyone else – for all they did for Linda.

Area hunters are asked to donate animal hides to the Elks Lodge veterans program. The deer, elk, moose, bear, goat, or any other hides are tanned and turned over to the veterans and several children’s hospitals to make braces and to be used in therapy work. Orange collection barrels have been set up at Sandy Beach, behind the Elks Lodge, at the city dump and 3 Mile Sawmill Creek Road.
