A memorial service for Delores “Dee” Hansen will be held 4 p.m. Monday, Nov. 26, at the Sheet’ka Kwaan Naa Kahidi.
She will lie in state at the Coho House until the funeral services.  Services will be held at noon Tuesday, Nov. 27, at St. Michael’s Russian Orthodox Church.
Dee passed away Nov. 15 at the Anchorage Medical Center.  She was 70.
Dee Hansen (Yeil Dax Na.aat), a Chookaneidi, was born Aug. 27, 1942, in Todd, Alaska.  She was raised in Kayaash Ka Hit (Mother Coho House) in Sitka by her adoptive parents Annie (Kaasanak) and Charlie (Daanax.ils’eik) Dick. Her mother Dora (Yanawke) and stepfather Richard Sheakley lived in Hoonah.
She attended school in Sitka.  She worked at Revard’s restaurant, where many considered her to be the best waitress in town.  She was also employed as a teller at the National Bank of Alaska, as a cashier at Market Center, and at the Petro Express gas station.
While living in Hoonah she worked at Haines Airway and the Hoonah Liquor Store.  In Everett, Wash., she and her husband Don owned and operated the Laurel Heights Mini Mart.
She was a member of the Russian Orthodox Church, and belonged to the American Legion and the Moose Club.
Dee was married to, and later divorced from, James P. Garrity.  In 1975 she married Donald Hansen.
Dee loved life and took great delight in her roles as mother, grandma, auntie, sister, cousin, and friend.
Her favorite exercise was to dance the jitterbug.  She also loved to crochet.  John Wayne movies, all of which she knew by heart, helped her pass many satisfying hours, and movies about animals also gave her a lot of pleasure.  She could be brought to tears when the bagpipers played “Amazing Grace.”
Her beauty, sensitivity, and love of other people were evident to all those who knew her, and will live on in their hearts.
She was preceded in death by her adoptive parents Annie and Charlie Dick, her mother Dora (Davis) Sheakley, and her husband Donald Hansen.
She is survived by her adoptive brothers James Button of Sitka, Patrick Wickens of Hoonah, and Paul Weltzin of Juneau, and her adoptive sister Debra Hunsley of Hoonah.
Her children are Paddy Hansen (Deena) of Sitka, Garrett Hansen (Kris) of Atlanta, Ga., James Garrity (Patty) of Stanwood, Wash., and Donald Garrity (Stella) of Sitka.
Grandchildren are Carley and Chatham Hansen, Hailey Barger; Parker and Cody Hansen; Tosha Taylor; Jamie Loughnan; and Levi Harriman.  Great grandchildren are Darayl and Tenaya Talor; Kayla Loughnan; Marcus, Marciana, David and Kailley Harriman.
Although loved by all, she was particularly blessed by the support, companionship, and loving care and devotion during the difficult period of her final illness by her longtime friend Fran Houston.
