Former Sitka resident Douglas H. Teitzel died Dec. 28 at his home in Napavine, Wash., surrounded by all of his loving family. He was 72.
No services have been planned at this time.
Douglas was born May 8, 1940, in Port Townsend, Wash., the son of Henry L. and Bobbie B. Teitzel.
In 1960 he married Dolores Jean Erickson, and they came to Sitka, where he worked for Alaska Pulp Co., in the powerhouse. In 1966 he went to work for the city electric department, in the hydro plant and then on the line crew. He also was with the police reserves.
The family moved to Winlock, Wash., in 1976, and then to Napavine in December 1992.
Doug worked woods security patrol for Weyerhaeuser, Longview, Wash., and patrolled the Mount Saint Helens area for 30 years. He loved to fish and be outdoors.
He was preceded in death by his father, Henry L. Teitzel in January 1944; his mother, Bobbie B. Janisch in February 1989; and his dad, Walter J. Janisch in January 2009.
He is survived by his wife, Jean, of Napavine; children William (Linda) Teitzel of Hillsboro, Ore., Kim (Kelly) Teitzel of Toledo, Wash., Tara Neely of Napavine, Darcie Teitzel of Onalaska and Kyle
Teitzel of Lacey, Wash.; seven grandchildren, Brent, Andria, Ryan, Bradley, Amarra, Garrhet and Zane; and two great-grandsons, Maxx and Vincent.
He also is survived by a brother, Donald K. (Betty) Teitzel of El Cajon, Calif., and numerous nieces and nephews.
